Alex Orozco, 18, of Port Chester, was charged Wednesday, April 4 with felony cruelty to animals for the crime which took place on Feb. 14, said Greenwich Police Lt. John Slusarz.

Police said Orozco took the dog after being involved in a domestic violence incident on Rodwell Avenue.

After taking the mixed-breed dog, he attached it to a leash and dragged it from his vehicle, causing significant injuries, the police report said.

“Orozco tied up the dog alongside another road, abandoning it," the report added.

“The dog suffered serious injuries that required it to be taken to a vet," said Slusarz.

Orozco was nabbed by Greenwich for the crime while in custody at the Westchester County Jail on another criminal matter. He was then charged by Greenwich and bail was set at $50,000.

He is scheduled to appear in court on April 18.
